All of the books in this catalog are hardcover facsimile reprints
published and printed by Higginson Book Company.
They are reproduced
from originals in the Higginson Book Company collection.
Archival Quality
The books are printed on warm white acidically neutral sixty pound book paper.
They are bound in hardcover Class A library bindings. The library bindings feature
archival quality materials,reinforced hinges, sturdy buckram clothe covers and gold
foil spine lettering. Class A library bindings are about four times
more durable than
ordinary hardcovers.
Selection
Unit histories by their nature vary enormously in literary
quality and historical merit, yet all of them have value. Some serve
as the only history of a unit and most have genealogical interest.
With this in mind we are very inclusive in what we reprint but we
point out critics' choices by noting which are "Union
Bookshelf"selections and with some quotes from "Civil War Books"
(CWB).
